This could get lengthy - so up front I'll say I wouldn't recommend this place. Please continue if you'd like to know why. JUNE 2015 I was referred to this establishment via the dentist I'd consulted for a sharp tooth pain. My "consultation" consisted of xrays which I had already taken just days before at the dentist. (Charged for those, of course). It also consisted of my being taken to a room and watching a video on wisdom tooth education/extraction. The doc dropped in for brief minutes to ask if I had any questions afterward. The video is pretty elementary and thorough so I didn't have questions. I recommend asking them though...anything. Ask what a wisdom tooth is made of, what their IQ is, when the doc last got a haircut. Why, you ask? Because you will be charged for this non-sense anyways. They could have given me a pamphlet and had my xrays faxed over but instead I paid for this nonsensical consultation. We then scheduled my 'surgery' to have my wisdom teeth removed asap - and was told I'd be contacted for an estimate of cost. The estimate was x amount [it'll vary from person to person so I won't divulge details] but was told it could go up or down depending on variable. Fine. I borrow the money from family as I'm not able to come up with the cash on my own and wait for the big day. I get a call a few days prior to my appointment and miss it. I work 2nd and didn't get a chance to call back during their business hours until a couple days later - about a day or so before my appointment. I was told it was probably just an appointment reminder - no biggie. Thursday rolls around - I'm up early with no food in my stomach so I'm not the most emotionally stable person in the world. I'm greeted in the typical mundane manner. [The staff here does their job but aren't the friendliest nor the most empathetic. Your discrepancy is your problem or the insurance - definitely never theirs.] Moving along - I'm told my up front cost will be over double X than I was told previously. I panicked, I panicked more so when they said pay up or leave. They advised me that they called me to tell me this...probably an appointment reminder, ya? My domestic partner beside me keeps calm and tries to reason with them. They tell me I had better figure it out because it's time for my appointment. Basically, again, pay up or get out. Another lady comes into the picture and they talk - they decide to graciously relieve my costs to some degree, making it somewhat affordable to at least get the procedure taken care of. The procedure itself was good - the doc does a good job at that. I healed well and everything went as planned, of course, it's dependent on the individual as well. I was very attentive to the after-care. Not longer than a week later, I go in for my follow-up. As I'm leaving, I ask for a review of my charges. This is when I find out I have a credit on my account, a substantial one. It turns out that my original quote was about 35% higher than what it actually cost me all together. This was blamed on my insurance company. How can the dentist I went to afterward get my a quote within minutes that was accurate but this place couldn't get it right over a span of 2 weeks or better? I called about getting the refund and was told they OUTSOURCE these things to a CPA and that the CPA is usually a month behind. It's now 2 months later and still nothing. I was told by the billing lady (who's only there half the time) that it was protocol and she couldn't expedite the process - but would hold the check for me to pick up today. I called today - she didn't even speak to me. She had the rep that answered tell me she'd be mailing them out Friday. Basically - the doc does a good job but is super busy. Office staff is rude, unorganized and not good at their job. Do all the work yourself aside from the medical procedure. It'll be easier.
